Selective COX-2 inhibitor that reduces pain and inflammation with fewer gastric side effects |
| Thiocolchicoside |
4 mg |
Muscle relaxant that relieves spasm and stiffness associated with musculoskeletal pain |
General Information:
Musculoskeletal pain often involves both inflammation and muscle spasm, causing restricted mobility and discomfort.
Etobix-T provides synergistic action by combining:
- Etoricoxib, which blocks COX-2 enzyme, reducing prostaglandin-mediated inflammation and pain.
- Thiocolchicoside, a semi-synthetic muscle relaxant that acts on GABA-A and glycine receptors, decreasing muscle stiffness and promoting comfort and mobility.
This combination ensures faster recovery, improved flexibility, and better patient compliance with minimal gastric irritation.
Indications and Uses:
Etobix-T is recommended for:
- Acute low back pain and cervical spondylosis
- Muscle spasm associated with sprain or strain
- Painful musculoskeletal disorders
- Osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis
- Post-operative orthopedic pain and stiffness
- Ankylosing spondylitis
- Sports injuries involving muscle contraction
Mechanism of action & benefits:
- Etoricoxib: Selectively inhibits the cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) enzyme responsible for pain and inflammation, providing effective analgesia with lower risk of gastric ulcers compared to traditional NSAIDs.
- Thiocolchicoside: Acts as a centrally acting skeletal muscle relaxant by modulating GABA-ergic neurotransmission, reducing involuntary muscle contraction without excessive sedation.
Dosage and Administration:
- Recommended Dose: 1 tablet once or twice daily after meals, as directed by your doctor.
- Route: Oral
- Duration: Short-term use (5–10 days) unless otherwise prescribed. Long-term use should be under medical supervision.
Common Side Effects (Usually Mild & Temporary):
- Gastric discomfort, nausea, or acidity
- Dizziness or mild drowsiness
- Headache or fatigue
- Mild diarrhea or abdominal pain
These symptoms usually resolve with continued use or after meals.
Less Common / Rare Side Effects:
- Elevated blood pressure (rare with prolonged use)
- Fluid retention or swelling of feet
- Skin rash or allergic reaction
- Hepatic enzyme elevation (rare with Etoricoxib)
- Muscle weakness or mild sedation (rare with Thiocolchicoside)
Seek medical advice if any severe or persistent symptom occurs.
Warnings and Precaution:
- Not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease.
- Avoid prolonged use without medical advice.
- Caution in patients with hypertension, heart disease, liver or kidney impairment, or gastric ulcer history.
